Making it Easy
Stautz Law wants you to know how it’s going to go. This page has information on the planning process, what you need to do on your end, and fee estimates for the most common plans.
Ready-Set-Go
How It Works
We’ll create and finalize your estate plan with two meetings:
- Planning Meeting – This is the meeting you’ve already scheduled, or that we’ll schedule as soon as possible.
- Before the meeting, you’ll take some time to think about your goals and to fill out an intake questionnaire with basic information about your personal and financial situation.
- At the meeting, we’ll go over that questionnaire, discuss your goals, and design a plan that best suits your needs.
- At the end of the meeting, I’ll quote you a fee for the plan we’ve designed. You’ll decide whether to go ahead with the plan, and when you do, we’ll schedule the second meeting.
- Execution Meeting – This meeting will be set for a week or two after the planning meeting (depending on the complexity of the plan, firm workload, and your schedule). I’ll have prepared the documents necessary for the plan we designed. At the meeting, we’ll review the documents together, resolve any doubts or changes, and then sign everything necessary to put your plan in place. You’ll go home with the original plan documents.
What You Need to Prepare
You need to look at two documents:
- Estate Planning Intake Questionnaire – This form gathers important personal and financial details to ensure we tailor your plan to your needs. Please complete it before our first meeting, if you can. If you can’t, that’s OK, we can still have a productive planning meeting, but you’ll still need to complete the questionnaire afterward so I can write your documents correctly.
- Things to Consider: Estate Planning Overview – This guide is a resource for you. It provides a high-level look at key estate planning decisions, such as selecting guardians, trustees, and healthcare representatives. Reviewing it ahead of time may help clarify your priorities.
Services and Fees
Fees are determined by the scope and complexity of your particular estate plan. You’ll know at the end of the initial planning meeting what your plan will cost. Prices quoted here are non-binding estimates for basic packages (for a single person) / (for a married couple). Extra services are quoted as needed.
